Who writes this, and how we make money
You should know who is behind a comparison site before you trust one. So here it is, without the usual vagueness.
The disclosure, in plain terms
This site is published by Equip Payment Solutions. Equip places, installs and supports restaurant point of sale systems, and the two it sells are Shift4 Dine and Clover. When a restaurant signs through us, we earn money.
That is a commercial interest, and hiding it would be the fastest way to make everything else here worthless. So it sits on every page, and we hold ourselves to one rule that makes it workable: where a competitor is the better answer for your restaurant, we say so in writing. Our Shift4 Dine versus Toast page names the rooms where Toast wins, and our Square page credits Square for publishing rates we cannot fault.
How we work
Judd Alsup is who you speak to
Judd runs the team. If we have a crew near you, that is who calls. If we do not, Judd handles it himself. Equip installs and services in all fifty states, with local teams in twenty one.
We read your statement for free
Whether or not you ever buy anything. Most owners have never seen their real effective rate broken out.

How the numbers on this site are sourced
Every figure carries a source and a date. Where a vendor publishes a rate, we cite the vendor's own page. Where a vendor refuses to publish one, as Toast does, we cite independent reporting and label it as reported rather than published, and we cross check it against at least two sources.
Where a number cannot be responsibly sourced, we leave it out. That is why Clover appears in our calculator as uncomputable rather than as an invented figure.
Questions owners ask
Do you sell Toast or Square?
No. We name both throughout the site because most owners shortlist them, and we would rather you got a straight comparison here than a sales pitch somewhere else.
What does the research cost me?
Nothing. Neither does the statement review.
